Q. What equipment will my child need to play soccer?
A. All players MUST have a pair of shin guards and a ball of appropriate size for the child to play soccer.
Shin guards are available at Hibbitt Sports and Wal-Mart at a price between $5-$10. Balls are also available at Hibbitt Sports or Wal-Mart at a price between $5-$25. Players should also bring plenty of water/sports drink to all practices and games. Shin guards must be covered by socks so that the plastic is not exposed. SOCCER cleats are recommended for older players, but not required. SOCCER cleats are usually available at Hibbitt Sports, Shoe Show and Wal-Mart at a price between $15-$50.
The DCYSC does have some equipment of our own that we can lend to players for the season. However, supplies and sizes are limited and are loaned on a first-come, first-loan basis. For parents of older players with old equipment that has been outgrown, the DCYSC is always accepting good used equipment that can be used as loaner equipment for those in need.
